I am getting the best 1/8 mile times by shifting around 5500 rpm which leads me to believe the motor falls off hard above that. It went 7.50 shifting at 5600 and 7.70 shifting at 5800.

On a full 1/4 pass with the shift light set at 5800 the shift light comes on right around the 1/8 mile mark and I am already in 3rd gear and the last 4 second of the pass are run above 5800 rpm. The car currently has 3.73 gears in it and there is some debate that if I switch to 3.55 gears and bring the rpm down into a better part of the power band that it will or will not help my ET. Some say "the higher in the RPM range through the traps the better" but what if there is more power at 5800 than 6200? Will I be wasting time trying 3.55s? I think a few more passes and I will be tickling the 6200 rev limiter through the traps.

I cut a 1.66 60' off the foot brake bringing the rpms up just above idle then stomping on it and dropping the foot brake. My ignition box has a 2 step in it, I was thinking about hooking the 2 step up to the brake pedal so when I stage on the foot brake the 2 step activates and I can go WOT and maybe flash the converter harder and leave the line faster. Is this a bad idea?

Here is the pass.

One easy way to test to see if less gear will help or hurt is to try and borrow a taller tire. AS for as the 2 step goes, hook it up a try it. All cars are different. how much stall do you have? I know my car runs better et when I stall as much foot brake RPM as possible with out pushing through the lights.
