How long would a 4cyl T5 live behind a full bolt on, suspension 5.0 live. If occasionally went to the strip with drag radials.

I ran a handful of 11 second passes with a 4 banger T5 in my car and beat on it tons on the street and it still worked fine when I swapped it out for a 4R. The driver has a lot to do with how long the trans lasts but regardless of how easy you are on it it can go at any time.

had a 4cyl t5 in my car for about a year now car has gt40 heads, full susp cam and spray launch the car on spray with a d/r havent had any issues yet.I race the car at least once a week and have at least 40 passes on it at the track for the $ i paid for it was well worth putting it in for how long it is holding up and it still shifts perfect.
But also depends on the used cond of the 4cyl t5 ur getting too.

This mostly answers my question. I dont know much about trans internals...but ... my question was is there a differenct between the 2.3 T5 and the 5.0 T5? I may be looking into getting a beater 2.3 and converting it to 5.0 power.

The 4cyl T-5 uses a different gear ratio than the T5 found in the V8 cars and isn't rated as high.

I put on in my 90 LX until I could repair my T-5 a few years back. With 2.73 gears in the rear and the 4cyl T-5, the car felt like it had 3.55's in the rear. However, I raced the piss out of that car/trans and grenaded the trans after a few races. The 4 cyl trans is only good for a band aid repair/replacement until something better comes along.
