question.. new blower guy here. i am running a ys with a carb setup. just got it running. i have yet to hook up the pipe to the hat because i need to get a boot for it, so right now it is open coming out, and i noticed when i fired up the motor that a WHOLE lot of air is coming out of the pipe even at idle. is this normal ??, and if not is there a way to control the idle air speed of the blower ?. it seems like it blows my hand clear over to the other side of the truck when this thing just sits at idle. does the bypass control any of the air speed at idle or is this just a normal condition for a blower of this size. oh and by the way, welcome back to me. scott has returned !! (proysi formerly ) . thanks for the input guys.

yep, completely normal. thats the job of a bypass valve, it opens when the engine is in vacuum, ie idle and low load cruise.

so once i have all the connections made and properly adjust the bypass valve my idle should be good then. i was just concerned about the amount of idle air coming out. seems like an awful lot. only problem i have is im runnin a victor (carb'd) intake which has no vac. provisions in it so im gonna have to tap the pcv to get the valve to work cause i'd prolly have to remove the intake to drill the runner. i see no problem with bein able to pull the 4 to 8 in. of vacuum it will take to make the valve open properly, but i guess i will find out soon enough. i will write again if i cant get it to work.
