Mine's well underway...sold the S trim, the Methanol Injection, and the PMS.
Dropped in a new engine a month or so ago...
standard bore 5.0...AFR165 heads, AFM B-25 cam, Ported Cobra intake, blah, blah, blah...
Added an RPM Extender
Still need to swap in the 410's, but I'm seriously considering a nitrous setup for shits & giggles...If I spray it, I plan to leave the 327 gears in...

i plan on putting on getting the subframes i just ordered installed, battle boxes and a driveshaft loop done at the same time also

after that possibly a msd ignition and a intake.

i also have a project 5.0 1983 Ranger that i worked on some last summer....the motor is in and the transmission but the rear end has to be changed, fuel cell and lines have to be run also

i'm planning on switching it to carb for cost reasons and installing the fuel cell and lines and stuff so i can crank it up during may

after that i'm swapping a 9" into it and this will be done whenever i get the money

My goal is to get my car back on the road again and going 11's wouldn't hurt either but I'm not getting my hopes up.

awesome!!......details man details!!!....i run a lil all motor 306 myself.......Whats your combo??

demon

i call it a long rod 306 as a side joke but its a mild carbed 331 with tw heads and a out of the box holley 650backed with a gforce trans i cant waite to try, went 11.40 at 121 1st pass with a stock t5 i knew i couldnt catch a gear with , 2 1/2 3 chamber flows and 28 *10 ets

winter mods were 3'' dr gas x with spin techs, 10'' rims and 28* 10 slicks, g force dog ring trans and different lca's, oh and finally put my 2 step on the steering wheel, im also still saving for a nice carb, any suggestions?

88 how do you like the shifter handle? i picked one up to try out

fast88
03-13-2005, 09:32 PM
i havent made any passes with the new handle...it feels like a winner though..i got it from riechard racing.....

121 should get you in the 10's....just getter to hook like a bear..prolly gonna need to get into the 1.4's to break in the 10's.....the dog ring trans is alot like a proshifted box isnt it??

demon
03-13-2005, 09:40 PM
yup, they say it actually sucks in gear but we'll see. i had a 1.55 60 ft with the ets and launching at 4500[didnt want to hurt the trans] but with the slicks new lca's im thinking with the taller 1st gear ill be leaving at atleast 6000, hoping for a mid to low 1.4

if its anything like a proshifted box youll love it.....itll take some getting used to though....im still getting the hang of mine...wierd to say that its SO easy to shift it makes it alittle difficult..lol....youll find yourself shifting the same way you used to.....which is alot of wasted movement in a proshifted set-up.

good luck with it...lemme know how you make out..

you go to cecil at all?...ill be there alot this year (finally getting the car done)..we can hook up and make some passes.

damn josh...i didnt know you were building a carbed truck!... 8)

well the motor was out of an 88 thunderbird i bought a couple of years ago really cheap since it was wrecked and i didn't want to spend the money to fix the body on the car

well a guy down the street gave us this ranger for free that had no motor and tranny so it was a perfect truck to make run like a badass lol

we put the motor in, stripped the truck of unneeded weight and then stopped b/c i didn't know how much money i needed for school this year... well i wasn't going to make it carbed but i decided to go ahead and build it carbed here recently due to the fact that i have an intake and a carb to go on it already so it'll be much cheaper in the long run for up grades and such since that motor is a speed density motor

if i get the chance this summer i'll get some pics of it and post them, it's kind of a join project between me and my dad so far. even though i've paid for most of it lol
He'll probably pay for the rearend so that'll help me alot.

Doing a 9" so that we can switch the gears easily from an 1/8th mile gear to a 1/4 mile gear
this thing will be my cheap POS to beat on lol....won't be a looker at all lol

i have one more mod for my mustang this summer also...bought some clear corners for it today....now i need to look for some clear headlights
OH and i am going to put some DR's on my old stock rims unless my dad helps me to get a set of drag rims to run on my car and the Ranger...guess we'll see

yea....i'll be spending loads of money on cars this year for a college student...but oh well...only live once!

Nice set-up, sounds like it'll scoot with the new trans etc...(Rich, lemme borrow that tko for a ''test pass'' .....for carbs it seems alot of locals have had luck with a pro system tweaked carb, i plan on finding out sometime this year.
