when I bought my car it needed a mastercylinder i replaced that and drove the car for about 200 miles without a problem then I parked it for the winter it has now been sitting for about 6 months and I took it for the first ride the other day. I noticed now the brake pedal is somewhat stiff there just isn't much play at all. The car still stops but seems like it takes alittle more force. I'm pretty sure it needs a brake booster but I wanted to get everyones opinion first because I don't want to go pull it apart and that not be the problem.
thanks

check for a vaccum leak at the tree where the booster connects. The hose for the brake booster connects broke off that tree on mine before and the brakes were really hard and it took forever to stop lol.

I left that hose off once by accident and I had the opposite effect...the brake pedal was soft as hell and went straight to the floor. The result was the same though...the car took forever to stop..lol.

Could also be a frozen caliper or wheel cylinder. They will rust up from sitting sometimes.

alright I got a chance to go to my shop today and look at the car. the vaccum line is hooked up tight so I couldn't see that being the problem. how do I check for a frozen wheel cylinder?

Put the car on a lift and have someone hit the brakes while you try to spin each wheel. You can also see it not moving when the brakes are depressed. Also make sure each wheel spins freely when the brakes are off.

thank you I'll give that a try tomorrow and see how it works.

alright I put the car up on jackstands today. without the brakes on the front wheels did spin freely. then I had a friend hit the brakes and the brakes held I couldn't spin it to save my life.
Then I desided to give bleeding them another try. I blead the whole car again everything seemed fine no bubbles or anything. my only other guess is maybe I need to bench bleed the master cylinder again or only other thing it could be is the brake booster.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks
Mike
