What type of fluid should I run in a standard T5 for a 5.0?

I just bought a non-wc t5, and when I drained it, looked like gear oil was in it. I've heard of people using syncromesh and ATF, so what should I put back in it? Thanks

Just use a quality Dextron/Mercon III, either standard or synthetic.

You can use gear oil also, it will give smoother shifts, but IMHO I never saw a difference between the 2.

Non WC T5s use gear oil,WC use ATF.
