Just picked up this stang, it has a AOD tranny with a 2800 stall. Now it shifts real early on take off, im only getting 1300 before it shifts! And it bogs down a little till i hit 55! Now can I ajust the tranny cable on the trottle body to shift later? THANKS FOR THE HELP!!!!

It could be the tranny cable that needs proper adjustment, which connects to the throttle. I've heard that you can make it shift earlier or later by adjusting the cable. Also, what gears do you have?

I suggest changing the governor or installing a high rev kit. Adjusting the cable beyond normal specifications is a bad idea.

^^ Good info. Never thought about the hi-rev kit. Transgo sell the hi-rev kit for 28 bucks.

check the adjustment on the TV cable. make sure the cable has the plastic bushing on it , where it connects to the throttle body.

Where does it shift when you put it to the floor upond taking off?

Transgo shift kit would also be a good idea

Do you know what servo you have in it?

First what rear gearing does the car have? anything higher(numerically) than stock will cause it to shift early, also the higher number gearing you go the sooner it will shift unless you modify the governor. The converter would have little to no effect on your shift points, they are controled by the valve body and governor. But I would check or have the T.V. pressure checked (with a gauge), as it can have some but not much(less than 100rpm) effect on shift points.
Good luck

If your not sure what gear ratio your running...jack the rear of the car(chock the front wheels). put the car in N and turn the rear wheels by hand. watch how many times the driveshaft rotates to one full tire rotation.
If the driveshaft has lets say.. 3 1/2 rotations with one tire rotation. you've got 3.55's. Just a little gee whiz
