OK, guys I need some help. I ran a 13.6@102 with exhaust and throttle body. Since then I did gears, BBK cold air kit, springs, Pro 50 shifter, and I have a power programmer. With DR's after all of that it went 13.6@102. Any suggestions for my best bet to get some more out of it would help.
Oh, and I put the computer back to stock because some people said it might be hurting me, but I haven't ran it since. It's a 00Mustang GT 5 speed.

you sound just like me. my TA I had went 13.6 stock. Then I added headers, off road y-pipe, vortech charger, 85mm maf, ported TB, alot of suspension and a few other bolt ons and went a whopping 13.2 lol.

was there any major weather differances between the runs?

Shifty
11-21-2004, 06:21 PM
Not at all :( Everything was pretty much the same, my 60' time didn't even get much better with DR's. I'm gonna run it again on Fri weather permitting with the DR's on the stock computer and run the hell out of it. I might even go on a Saturday so I can get a few good runs in but we'll see. That sucks about the TA, I remember reading about that on DSR.

what gears are in the car??

frdfandc
11-22-2004, 06:36 PM
What RPM are you launching at?

What RPM are you shifting at?

Shifty
11-22-2004, 10:23 PM
The car has 3.73's.....I launch around 3000rpms, but I only ran twice with the DR's(Not much time to try different things) I shift around 5800rpms but I tried shifting a little lower and higher but 5800 seems to work out best :?
I have been hoping Mingrey01GT would post and help a brother out, but I guess he is part of that top secret racing club :(

Stock my car dyno'd at 230/247 and would run 13.9's on Nitto Drs

With the TA at 14 degrees and Prochamber it dyno'd at 247/293 and would run mid to high 13's on Dr's

With 4.10's, 31 splines, F150 Tloc, ET streets and skinnies I was running consistent 13.1's and 13.2's

This was not power shifting the car.

At the Nats with the sway bar off and power shifting, I was running consistent 13.0's

I also don't have passenger seats. I have the WMS cold air kit too, but I doubt that does very much.

I'm also dumping the clutch anywhere from 4500 to 5500 depending on the track conditions, and shifting at redline

I hate to say it (and I was in this position) Don't fear the gear. 4.10's are the best choice for a GT IMO.

And if anyone tells you they are a PITA for commuting, they are full of shit.

I've driven the car 60 miles round trip to work in traffic and it's no big deal. Most of that still with the et streets on it. Ha ha!

You should consider 4.10's

Shifty

Thanks for the info :) I was hoping you would post on this topic, I guess I'm going to get the cam timing gear next, and I'm gonna try to sell the Computer. Hopefully, I can get some kind of forced induction soon :o , That would be nice, but money is tight, I need to get this thing into the 12's before spring or I wont be happy. I was thinking about getting 4.10's but my "pit crew" was arguing about what gears to go with, Ford told me I had 2.73's but when I pulled the tag on the rear it said I had 3.27's. It still helped, but I was looking for more then I got. I don't want to squeeze it but that looks like the most bang for the buck, I'll figure something out. Thanks for the help.

The Don
11-23-2004, 08:08 PM
3.27's are stock.

Trust me, ditch the 3.73's and get 4.10's

You won't be sorry.

What is your timing at? What exhaust do you have?

And I would not recomend running et streets if you have the stock rear end unless you want it to go boom.

I took my car to Rhodes, and they put they needed rear end parts in to allow me to run et streets or slicks and have a solid rear end setup.

You're right in New Castle, so Townsend isn't that far from you. If you want quality work and no bs go to Rhodes. They won't steer you wrong.

If you haven't already done it, remove the sway bar. I thought it was a bunch of crap until we actually took mine off and then I launched the car.

It does make a differance.

I'm not an expert on any of this, I'm just telling you what worked for me after listening to the other modular guys.

If you can make it, come down to Cecil this Saturday.

11-23-2004, 08:54 PM
ive only got 210 rwhp and run 13.0's. you need to figure out your launch its all in the first 60ft.

The Don
11-23-2004, 09:03 PM
RS..........the 5.0 is a different animal then the 4.6

You have the better advantage in the top end.

Nice time with your HP. What are your 60's?

I'm stuck at 1.7's

He said he has 3.73's

They must go!

gavin..........another thing to consider is the suspension.

everyone keeps telling me that i need to do that next.

Hopefully at the spring nats my car will be there with a drag suspension setup.

i don't give a rat's ass about streetability anymore.

When I took the sway bar off my fox body it handled real sloppy, how is your car on corners? I don't drift or anythin but I drive fast everywhere..lol

The Don
11-23-2004, 09:25 PM
Don't do anything stupid on corners. You don't need the sway bar for daily driving.

And if you do need it, you are being stupid on the roads.

Shifty
11-23-2004, 09:36 PM
Well my fox would swerve when I hit bumps in the road, my car is lowered 2" so hopefully it wont have too much body roll. I don't like it when the car feels sloppy.
You car looks badass with those wheels and I love the no spoiler look :D

The Don
11-23-2004, 09:43 PM
Thanks man.

The car handles fine without the swaybar. I just don't go flying around turns at 40 plus

It is actually more fun to drive on the road without it. Hit the gas and the nose somes up.

Seriously though, you remind me of me when i was stuck at high 13's so whatever I can do to help I will.

12's are possible with what I have and i'm so damn close.

No disrespect, but you may need some more seat time at the track to get to learn your car and LEARN how you drive it.

In my similar setup to yours I made over 100 passes and I just got to know WTF i was doing wrong.

Listening to others and taking advice works a lot as well.

You can't see what the car is doing when you launch.

Shifty
11-23-2004, 09:50 PM
Yea, this is my 4th Mustang, but my first 4.6 all the rest were 5.0's.....I'm going down Friday night to run but I might try to make it down on a Saturday for Test & tune, get some practice launching....Thanks for the info, I'm going to pull my sway bar off tomorrow to see if I can get my 60' times down :?

The Don
11-23-2004, 09:58 PM
A bunch of is willbe there Saturday. it may be wort your while to come down.

Where in new Castle are you? Maybe we could meet up one day before I put the GT away for the winter and you can see how 4.10's are.

Shifty
11-23-2004, 10:25 PM
Hell yea, I'm right off 13 by the police station. Just send me a PM sometime when you have free time, I'd love to check it out :D

my car is lowered 2"

I think we may have found the problem....are you using lowering springs?

Shifty
11-24-2004, 03:21 PM
Yea, I have B&G lowering springs. Traction isn't too much of a problem for me, I just can't get out of the 101 or 102mph range :(

The Don

Take the wing off to increase your trap speed

Shifty
11-24-2004, 04:36 PM
Take the wing off to increase your trap speed

I have been seriously thinking of doing that, not for trap speed, but I think it makes the car look very clean/different

The Don
11-24-2004, 08:33 PM
I agree that it makes it look cleaner, but it really does increase the trap speed.

I was at 101's and 102's then made it into the 104.xx trap consitently.

I think i might try to go down Saturday if I don't have to work, I'm going down Friday with the DR's and I might pull the sway bar off, it depends what I have time for. I'll let you guys know when I find out what's going on at work. P.S. I always power shift

Shifty
11-26-2004, 11:47 PM
Well I ran tonight with the DR's and without the PowerProgrammer, I didn't have time to pull the sway bar off, but I ran a 13.311@102.94 with a 1.834 60' time, I was happy with that for the end of the season :D Hopefully I can hit 12's in the spring, Thanks for all of the advice.
I'll probably be down tomorrow so I'll keep an eye out for you guys.

The Don
11-27-2004, 02:46 PM

What were your times today??

The Don
11-27-2004, 08:21 PM
fucking 13.1's man. I don't know wtf was up.

My 60's were the same as the 13.0 runs but the mph was lowere on the 1/8

Got me. I"m really surprised I didn't get towed home. After the 3rd pass I was so pissed off. I slammed my hand into the dash on the 2-3 shift.. thats how hard i was shifting it.

I just went home all pissed off and frustrated.

I'm fucking done for this year.
