I have saw a couple pumps with broken stock powdered metal gears. MMR cryo treats the stock gears for their pumps, but they still have an issue with breaking.
I went with billet gears from Triangle Speed Shop when I bought my pump almost 2 years ago. Since then, Melling has started offering a pump and a friend is using one. I don't know what the gears are made of though.
BTW, 4V pumps use 1mm wider gears for a little more flow. 3Vs use a higher pressure pump for the variable valve timing. The FRPP pump is just a stock 4V pump.

How's that working out for ya?? I don't see 8k as being all that tough for these engines. Not really a fan of high r's generally, but kinda ashamed to build one that won't spin...:) Got a buddy that ran an engine on his bench at 13,500 for 20 minutes, no load....:)(water cooled vw inline)

NO story to tell really. Both my brother and a friend have 900 blocks from MMR. Both havent had any problems with them. But, personally i prefere to stick to pushrod motors. MMR does good work, but he has a HELL of a time tring not to blow up his race car. I guess my point was, get away from the mod motors. Ill probably get flamed for saying it, but i just like them.
