im sure its been asked before but i cannot find much info on it. i already have an aod car which the tranny broke and im sick of seeing the car sit there. So one of the guys i work with had a c4 that his brother in law got as payment and has no use for so he just gave it to me. it has 10k on it and was fine when pulled. well i have no idea what year it is nor where to really look to identify it. i know i need a bellhousing as it doesnt have one. i also know ill need a driveshaft spacer and a convertor. do i need a shifter and also any tips on the swap? speedo hook up??

It's a fairly easy swap.
What style is the C4?
Case or pan fill?
You will need a corresponding bell housing and convertor.
Everything else should fit pretty well
The output shafts are the same size / spline count.
Speedo is a stick in.
The shifter should be good to go too.
The D position may or may not be different, depending what year the C4 is.
Pre 1967 are known as "dual range" while after that are "select shift".
Dual range is often refered to as the green dot.
If you drop the pan and take a pic it would help determine to a year.
Don't take a pic of the pan, it's the valve body I am interested in.

i found out its a pre 67 c4 and i decided against using it and am just gonna go ahead and go through my aod as c4 plus 4.10s is a big negative with me and as much cruising as i do esp highway.
