I have an almost new TKO that I finally just started to put some miles on. Problem is, is that when I go into reverse it grinds every once in awhile but not all the time. What's the deal? I am using the syncromesh fluid that is recommended but I am clueless of why. All other gears are fine.

reverse has no synchro so its normal from what a tranny builder told me....Some get it some don't. It can also be from a clutch adjustment but my experience its normal unless i go into a forward gear.

Push the clutch down and wait 10-15 seconds and see if it does it. Either you are not giving it enough time for the pressure plate to stop spinning or it has some drag still when it is disengaged.

Will check that out after I replace my radiator on Monday. Thanks.

What happens if you put it in 2nd first and then put it in reverse, does the grind go away?

Haven't driven it in 10 days since I moved, but I'll try all these tips on Sun. or Mon. when I'll have the chance.

I too was wondering what happens when you get into first gear before you hit reverse?

I see that as well with non synchronized reverse gears in other trans.
