The gang from MID-ATLANTIC STANGS & MUSCLE FORDS is getting together at Cecil on Saturday, March 29th for t&t. This is a few weeks before the nats. I was thinking of bringing the red car down this day so I can get some runs in with it and then I can just focus on the blue car at the nats. Is anyone else interested in going going down this day?

I went to a track rental yesterday at MIR. I was going to go to Cecil today, and skip work, but my wife said it was supposed to rain...

Work sucked, and it didn't rain...:(

Long term I say now, I like to get 13's but who knows. Over the next year or so, I may change my mind and want something faster, as I get more confident and experienced. I want to make some more runs total stock to see how much I can better my times. Then start a few tweaks here and there. Just need to find a few money trees first.

What would you suggest first perf mod to be? Gears? Drag radials? I think I'm going down Delmar in a few to practice a tad down there. Cecil is such a haul driving my old lady.

Have you done anything to the engine yet?

A stock 5.0 is like a blank canvas, and there's a lot of little things that can be done very inexpensively or even free.

The "first" mods, if not done yet, should be a full tune-up and a ignition timing adjustment. We noticed that car looks a bit "lazy". The 5.0's love added ignition timing, but then you'll be needing to run premium unleaded. When you're paying over $3 a gallon, does another 20 cents REALLY make a difference?

From that point, there's a ton of fairly cheap mods you can do to get car solidly well into the 14's....maybe even 13's if car is mechanically sound.

Underdrive pulleys
Cold air kit or at least a K&N filter in stock airbox with silencer removed
Shorty headers
Off road H or X pipe
aftermarket catback exhaust
373 or 410 gears (which will probably make you NEED drag radials)

exactly what Bob said....a full tune, up to and including checking TPS voltage, timing...timing and a TPS are a freebie, especially if you know someone with the tools and the know how(cough, cough)...lol

then I would run the the long list of bolt ons and a set of gears and you will be rolling...we can do everything right here, including a gear change...Adams car was completely built in my garage other than the machine work to the motor...so we can definately get you where you want to be

"Lazy", haha. I like that one. Poor ole girl was so neglected before! I haven't done any engine mods but change plugs, added msd wires and coil. No perf mods, just gen maintenance due to neglect. I'm assuming it has all stock gears and exhaust from what I know about it. 187k on body and trans, lil over 30k on rebuilt motor. (cough cough), is that an offer Matt? lol

Silverfox valve body would allow it to shift without doing the 1-2-1 shuffle.
