As some of you already know I swap from the 4R70W trans to a PA Lifetime warranty C4 rated for 1000HP with a transbrake. I added a SFI aluminum shield and aluminum driveshaft. Everything fit great and my MAC LT headers cleared the PA SFI aluminum bellhousing. The C4 trans alone is easy half the weight of a 4R70W even with the bellhousing and shield.
Alan from DirtyDog Performance made me a C4 8" racing converter. Very nice piece and man it was lighter then my PA 9.5" triple disc converter that Alan redone for me. Thanks Alan!
Filled the trans with Type F per PA recommendation and turn the key and nothing. Well if you read my other post you will see I'm having a neutral safety switch problem that I need to solve. So let skip this and go to the best part. We bypass the starter relay and applied 12v to the solenoid and bingo it started and ran.
Top the fluids off and hit the transbrake button and mashed the throttle. Yeah baby 5000rpms and it stopped. I was like I knew something is going to flying across the shop like a rod or flexplate, etc LOL So I have a 5000rpm stall converter like I wanted and Alan hit it on the nose the first try especially since this is not a common swap. Hit the transbrake button again and smash the throttle and 5000rpms again. So we shut it down and check the fluid and for any leaks. Everything was good.
Unfortunately it was raining so I could not go outside and try one transbrake launch
It is strapped on the dyno and is waiting to get tune. I'm expecting and 20-30rwhp loss on my dyno numbers because of the loose converter and a C4 robbing more HP then a 4R70W.
Just wanted to give you guys a update on my C4 swap.
