I'm new with the whole slush box thing, so help a brotha out. I'm dropping my 5.0 out of my stang in my 64 Falcon with a C4. The 5.0 made 316/328 on the dyno. The Falcon will weigh in at just under 3000 pounds and be primarily a street car. I need a good, inexpensive convertor and shift kit. I'd like some nice seat-of-the-pants shifts while keeping it streetable.

Bill,

Im gonna run a GER converter, I know there not the best converters but they are 1 mile from my house and for what Im doing with the car its gonna work perfect.. The setup I have ran 13.0 in a fox body with the C4/GER converter setup, Ive done some more to the 289 I have so It should go into the 12's hopefully.. Ill stay with that setup till something goes..

Dont forget kurt i went 105mph with that on street tires. Bill i would say GER or Percision industry. I think i spelled that wright. :)

Bill what size sthall are you wanting? You can get a PI conveter for mid $200s. But still ger are good too for the price.

Stay away from GER. GER is junk. A former co-worker had a GER trans in his 88 vert. The trans gave him nothing but trouble and GER dicked him around with the warranty on the trans. We ended up tossing the GER and installing a stock reman AOD. Shifted alot better than the GER

Must be hit and miss deal. I had 2 trans from ger and both never let me downand also conveters stayed in the sthall speed. Not saying their the best but for the money i'd buy another.

Ger is junk and has been since Geo. Reynolds had a trans shop in Phila. in the sixtys. I wouldn't use anything from him even if he gave it to me. Go with a Trans. Specialty. They're local in Aston Pa. Don't waste you money and your trans on a GER... Remember if the conv. takes a shit, it will throw metal all thru your trans. http://www.transmission-specialties.com/

I have never heard anything positive about Ger. Check out Dynamic (http://www.dynamicconverters.com/home.htm). They are right in Newark.

i called dynamic. i told them it might have a power adder in it's future and that it's primarily a street car. for a full rebuild with a manual valve body and a 3000 stall (3500-3800 flash) convertor, it's looking like around $1400, with a sfi flexplate around $1600. Does this sound right?
