finally getting around to doing my fuel system. so far i have 8an feed to y-block to vortech fuel rails then 6an line to aeromotive reg. then 6an return. now I just need to order a pump and filter.
I'm looking for somewhere in the 500hp range with s-trim and a 50shot(wet). and the car still will be driven on the street a good amount.

heres my questions:
-do I need to go with a sumped tank or can I just use a cartech intank pick up?
-what pump would be best for my setup?
-I am planning on going with 50lb high impd injectors should they be big enough?

thanks
Mike

I would go with a Walbro Dual pump set up with the intank pick-up.

Using an in-line pump like the aeromotive requires you to keep the fuel tank at least 1/2 full at all times.

The 50 lb. injectors are plenty big for your setup.

yea i haven't heard anything good about using the aeromotive a1000 on the street thats why I didn't just buy there complete kit and i built my own. so dual walbros are my best bet you think.

next question. if I run dual walbros what would I do 8an --filter-- Y block--pumps-- then y block again?
also does anyone have any pic's of this setup like where everything is mounted?

sorry about all the question I just want to make sure I do this all right the first time

thanks

There is a kit I saw that includes everything for the pump install. I will try and find the link today and I'll post it up for you.

Its a bit late....

But i must be the bastard stepchild here...I have been using my Aero1000 (older style) for over 2 yrs now on my street car, prolly has about 15-20k on it i would guess...

I use an intake pickup, and i have run that thing down to well below 1/4 tank on many occasions....Never ever had an issue...

My Aermotive 1000 pump was a total POS. It couldn't hang under boost. and would lose pressure. I wouldnt use one of them as a paper weight.

yep the A1000 is shit ass pump and NOT good for any amount of street driving. i myself use dual Walbro 255 inline pumps like frdfandc recommended. these pumps are super quiet and support ALOT of power. i have the dual GSL392 inline pumps fed by a granatelli intank pickup, going to one aeromotive filter, through -8 line up to areomotive rails, and a aeromotive regulator. this system is big time street friendly and horsepower friendly too.

LOL....My Aero doesnt hold up under pressure either....Obviously...I never have had it ramp up at a 1:1 rate w/ boost....But it is still alive....LOL

I want to switch to the twin Walbro's also....is that the same pump that X2cMotorsports sells in that kit? Supposedly those pumps are goood for high pressure too...?

Thanks for the info guys....

Here's the type of setup i'd do on a street/strip car:

I ended up going with cartech intank pickup, 10an feed to y, 2 255 inline walbros, y,aeromotive filter, 8an feed to y then 6an to the back of both rails, vortech rails, 6an out the front of both , to aeromotive fuel press. reg, then 6an return.

after reading everyone's post I desided that was the best way to go will see how it all work out I'm waiting for my injectors to come in then I'll be able to test it. thanks for all the help.

thanks

youll be VERY happy with that setup, that is basically how my setup is. i used -8 from the Y block to my rails is the ONLY difference. what injectors you going with?

I'm going with 50lb injectors I bought a set off a guy on corral that goes by the name Last1 he said he shipped them to me two weeks ago and said he would get back to me that night with a tracking # and I have yet to hear from him. so I may not have any injectors lol

I was going to run 8an lines from the y-block to rails only reason I did not though is the rails came with 6an fittings so rather then having to spend more money on fittings I just went with the 6an ones.

I actually have a question though I'm running a fuel press. gauge and nitrous. on my 8an feed line right before the y I put an adapter with a 1/4npt hole and then I put a T off of the for my nitrous and gauge line is this ok how did you guys do yours. I will take a picture of how it looks tomorrow its really hard to explain how I did it

damn! did you pay for the injectors already? and the FPR hook up should be fine, i run a autometer electric FP gauge and i have the sender threaded directly into my FPR

here is a picture of how I have my nitrous and fuel press. gauge hooked up its on my 8an feed line right before the y to the back of the rails. is it ok to run it like this? I did alot of search's on fuel system and no one had anything about running nitrous and a guage so this is what I came up with.

by the way please don't mind the mess of wires its a work in progress.lol

alright I've been putting this off for a few weeks now but its time to wire the pumps

I know Scott should be able to answer this but the questions are for everyone. how do you wire dual inline pumps? should I run 2 seperate relays or is one ok? also does anyone have a wiring diagram by any chance?

Thanks

Mikerun seperate relays, use the factory trigger wire ran to seperate relays. if you loose one relay you can limp home on the other good relay/pump setup. on the wiring as i first said i used the factory trigger wire to the seperate relays, i then grounded each relay and grounded each pump using 10ga wire, i then ran seperate 10ga power wires to the pumps also. its actually pretty easy

BTW those relays are readily available at RadioShack, they are just a automotive 12 volt relay.

I'm sure I will have a million more questions before I'm thru lol. theres nothing good about getting a project done early if it sits all winter I'll start pulling it a part again to change things then the never ending project will start all over again. lol.

thanks I'll try radioshack this week.
