View Full Version : Drag racers?
Other than the people I know personally, how many members here drag race on a regular basis.?
I define "regular" as ...........racing whenever the car isn't broke. hehe
...........please leave your name and where your home track is.

well when I'm not broke I like to go at least once every other week if not once a week. But I work every day so I don't have much time to go racing. But this year I have my own truck and trailer so I can go out anytime I want to, as long as I'm not working.
Thats a sweet looken 4 eyes you got there man, nice times to.
Thanks bro. Everything finally came together for my car last year after nearly 6 years of ups and downs.
Those 1/8 mile times you posted are pretty stout. I take it you live near an 1/8 mile only track.
nothin for nothin', but that times calculates to around a 10.52 in the 1/4. We could have at it...........it'd be a good race.
any pics of the combo and the car?

I'm sure once I get all the bugs worked out from the new combo, i'll be a "regular" at the track. Even thinking about doing some bracket racing at Cecil on Sundays.
Yeah, keep at it Darin, my first engine combo gave me problems too. I got pissed,(for a while, like 2 years), but then got a good game plan together and with alot of help from some very good friends, I am now enjoying the car that I started to build 6 years ago.

Thanks man, I race at Kennedale and Denton and sometimes I will try and make it out to Ennis, wait your not from Texas are you?
Well the motor is a stock explorer short block 302, with TFS heads, AFM cam, Holley intake and a Vortech S-trim putting out about 12psi. The car is light (3045 with me in it) and has some suspension work done to it. Oh and it has a built AOD by Mike's trick Shift with 3.73 gears and 3500 stall.
We just got it back up and running tonight. It had a blown headgasket so we decided to pull the motor.
here are a few other pics

sweet looken ride and a nice combo to go with it.
My next motor will be a Dart 351 with a pretty big turbo. But that is going to take all this and half of next year to built it. Casue it is going to cost a shitload. Cause I want to run in the 8's, but not for sure on how deep. Might just be some high 8's :D.
It's sounds like you have big plans for the car Brandon...............but like you said big plans = big $$$$.
Good luck with it.
I would like to upgrade my heads to some AFR's in the future, in hopes to run some 9's on motor only. I also need to upgrade my entire front suspension as well. Afterall, the first 60' feet dictates the rest of the run. 8)

I'm not at all pissed about this motor going south on me. Its probably the first of many. lol. You'll be seeing the car this year at some of the Saturday T&T's soon enought. And by the Fall NATS, I'll be turning alot of heads.
