According to Vortech a V2-SQ (S-trim) is manufactured to produce 6-8 lbs of boost... I know of many that add smaller pulley's to produce more boost effectively, what is the maximum "safe" amount of boost that the s-trim can handle (I.E. by safe i don't mean COULD it make 20 lbs SURE... for 10 seconds LoL...) im talking 100 mile round trip in july heat can an s-trim produce 15 lbs reliably? or is this asking to much of it and a t-trim would be better suited to live in this condition.

Thanks!

Gator.

T trim is better suited to extinction IMHO...S trim then YSi trim...why even bother with the antique middleman? Might as well run a B cam too...lol.

anyway...go to Vortech's site and play with their impeller speed calculator. That's what you need to watch, not boost PSI....and even if it's 100* out in August, the car's max boost isn't the worry, the safety of your tune for that temperature at X amount of boost is what matters. You can always kill the power according to air temps with your PMS.

That being said, if you want 15psi, why bother super-heating the intake charge with an S trim? I ran a 6.87"/2.75" pulley setup to max out my impeller speed and got 15-16psi by 5000 rpm's, but it leveled off due to belt slippage. I used a 8"/3.12" Renegade pulley setup for the same boost (and maxed out impeller speed), but with no slippage. Yes, the S trim is a good blower and will make 15psi, but not nearly as efficient as it's bigger brother.

If you want 15psi, step right into the YSi and be done....15psi will barely make it work up a sweat, since you'll be at 2/3rds of it's capacity, and you won't lose any low rpm power...if so, not enough to make a difference.

FWIW, most S/SQ trims I have dealt with seem to make 10-12 psi with STOCK pulleys and a safer slower impeller speed. If you think by some strange string of events that you'll not need more boost, and more power, then get one of those. If you're normal, or maybe not (LOL), and plan to "up the boost" anyway, save the aggravation of selling/swapping/installing different head units and get the big boy right from the start.

JMO...

While Bob is correct in his post...dont be afraid of an S-trim and methanol :-D

With stock pullies and meth mine was seeing 14psi at 6200rpm. The air intake temps only got to 130ish and I wasnt going to hesitate to run a smaller blower pulley LOL. If it were up to me I would def run a YSI over the s-trim but if you have the s-trim already I would run with it. Meth FTW!

ysi is a killer blower

even on a 85+ degree day my intake temps do not go over 165 with no intercooler / meth
