What's up everyone?
Im new to the site and have to say it is very informative. As a current master tech and former ford tech, I realize how much more I need to learn about hotrodding and aod's especially.
I own a 88 t.bird that has been converted to an 86 mustang 5.0 with a paxton sn2000. It has a tci shift kit and 3.73 auburn posi. Future mods include, performer intake, jba headers, mac prochamber, underdrives and a tweecer.
The transmission is pretty tired and seems like it has engine braking in all gears. When I slow down from cruising speeds the engine lugs like if it was a standard trans in high gear. I believe some excessive slack in the rear end is causing some of the decell bucking as well, but it may be a combination of the 2.
I know it's not a fast vehicle, but 16.5 in the quarter just won't cut it. If the transmission and rear end are solid, the vehicle might perform better.
Would any of you mind please pointing me in the right direction? I've downloaded the excel parts list and $618.35 is a good price, unfortunately I don't know where to purchase the parts. I really appreciate this site and all the help!
Thanks,
Mike
