I have the stock fpr because an adj reg won't fit with the intake on the KB.
I set the timing to stock 10 deg and had detonation. I retarded the timing 10 deg to 0 and still have detonation real bad. I have the msd 6btm set at 0 because the timing is already retarded 10 deg. I can't get on it at all. I have to drive it like a pop-pop. It has just been sitting until I can get it right. I am tired of waiting though. I don't know what else I can do except get a chip burned. Another thing is my fuel pressure is reading about 35-40psi at idle. It stays pretty much at about 40psi just cruising but idleing in the driveway it tends to drop or fluctuate from 40 down to 25. I don't know why that is. I have a new 255lph in tank pump and a new stock fuel pres. reg. A friend of mine has a pms for sale but don't know to much about them. Would it be better than a chip or would the chip get it tuned much better?

What size injectors are you running? Your base timing is at ZERO?

I have 42lb. injectors. I tried the timing at stock 10 degrees and there was alot of detination so I set it all the way back to 0 and there is still alot of detination.

Forgot to mention that I also have a pro-m 80mm mass air and 65mm throttly body. I have a ported cobra lower, E-cam, Edelbrock performer heads, Mac 2 1/2 cat-back exhaust, T5 tranny and 3.55 gears. The KB is putting out about 9 lb of boost

Thats typical for a 94 computer, they are a handfull to tune, especially with a KB. Your best bet would be a PMS if you can find somebody to tune it properly, I recommend the new style PMS as it has more features that seem to work very well on the 94-95s.
your FP should not drop like you suggest, is this a mechanical guage or an electric one? How much boost are you seeing, your FP needs to increase with boost, but since your regulator is prolly not boost sensitive, this could be a problem. you may have to plumb in a remote regulator that is boost sensitive, there is a few ways you can do this fairly easily, but not cheaply.

I don't have a 94 computer. I changed it over to a 91 with the best products conversion kit. The gauge is electric.

should have relinquished that info before dont ya think?
sounds like you dont have enough fuel underboost, but then again, we dont have the full scoop on your complete combo.

have you thought of using a fmu?

I shouldn't need an fmu with 42lb. injectors. They should support over 600hp.
The guy that had all of this stuff on his car had to have it tuned at LaRoccas'
He had an fmu on it and they took it off and said he didn't need it.

IF YOUR GOING TO GET A CHIP BURNT FOR IT THEN YOU SHOULD'NT NEED ONE BUT IF NOT THATS THE CURE FOR YOUR PROBLEM. I USED A VORTECH SUPER FMU AND AN RPM EXTENDER. CHIPS ARE GREAT IF YOU DON'T PLAN ON CHANGING YOUR SETUP, BUT IF YOU DO THEN YOU HAVE TO GET A NEW ONE BURNT AND THAT CAN GET EXPENSIVE. ANOTHER OPTION BUT MORE EXPENSIVE WOULD BE A PMS.
HOPE THIS HELPS

I would go buy a fuel pressure regulator with a boost reference port on it, plus a port for a fuel press. gauge. I like the mallory unit sold in Summit Racing. It's a bolt on that I know for sure raises fuel psi whenever boost is sensed. It should not be dropping, should be rock solid...

Any time the regulator see's vaccum the pressure will drop. It will drop .5 psi for every inch of vaccum. Pull the vaccum line and check your pressure at idle while taking note of the vaccum at idle. Reconnect the vaccum line to the regulator and watch the fuel pressure and vaccum while the engine idles. Does the vaccum drop when the fuel pressure rises at idle?

you need help....there is many things you need to do.. spence was right. you need fuel. more volume. second pump. and a boost sensative regulater.. and probably more than that. take it somewhere spend a little money and you will be able to enjoy it... take it to ONE person and stick with them.. 10 people can fix it but will have a slightly differnt way.. if you take a peice from each it still wont be right... there are a couple of good sorces
brian mitchell ( my self ) 302 275 6083
rhodes ( where spence works) 302 378 1701
