well if you want to boost it go with lower compression
if you want to spray it go with higher compression.
How are you rebuilding it? Back to stock? Boring it out some? Stroker?

i am wanting to build a strocker but may not be able to because the wife is allowing so much money and i really do want to supercharge. do anyone of you guys believe i can build a 306 with powerdyne combo to make 450-500 horsepower

Depends on what cam/heads you use but you can do that pretty easily with about 10lbs of boost. Personally I would just got stock 302 with a forged bottom end and boost the crap outta of it. Get some nice heads and like an e-cam and pour on the boost and maybe throw on a shot of gas on there.

What else have you done to the car. Remember there are other things to a car besides the motor. Can your transmission hold the 400+hp what about rear end, would you be able to get traction, do you have the right gears for the power band you will be in?
Trick flow products are pretty nice. There intakes look pretty ;), I personally like Vortech blowers but there all pretty much the same if you really thing about it.
How much did you have to spend on the total project. What is the car mainly going to be used for. Want the sleeper look?

the tranny in the car is a aod i just wasted money on a converter that i think i will not be able to reuse i want as much info i can get on a aod to make it able to handle up 500hp the motor is untouched right now because i just bought the long block from a friend for 250 just wanted to get ideas before started swipping the card for go fast parts my wife is allowing me to spend 6500 on a complete setup from engine to tranny so thats why looking for used heads and maybe used supercharger i am going for the sleeper look i am also looking into widening my stock pony wheels to around 10.5 inches  :D

Your horsepower goal is quite attainable both with or without power adders. Since you want to go for a sleeper look (need sound to go with that) I would suggest a lower compression build on a 302 or 331 setup and a QUIET blower. My bro has trick flow heads on an 89 5.0 and with no other mods to the bottom end they moved his motors redline past the mechanical ability of his tach. (its only a 6k tach ;) )
With the AOD the best course seems to be to put in a lentech valve body, a good shift kit, convert to a one piece hardened input shaft, and run a non-lock up converter with a stall set to match your motor. Sounds easy when I say it like that ;) doesn't it :)
BTW - if you are doing all the work yourself, you might have enough budget....if you have to farm it out...you need more money ;)
As stated before there is alot more to running that motor, you will need to address chassis, suspension, brakes, and traction (not nessecarily in that order). Spending a good amount of time thinking through the suspension, chassis stiffeneing, and traction adders will allow you better times with less motor, while the brakes off course will allow you repeat as often as desired
