This is the clock tower of the Independence Mall on Concord Pike (rt. 202). We are currently painting the lower sections on all the stores and are waiting till friday to get a chance to go up in the tower and get a closer look before bidding. The company that owns the mall is supplying the lift or crane and the materials, so I just have to figure out how much I want to go up in a lift or hang in a bucket off a crane to paint it. :D The alley in the rear is very narrow, so I'm thinking they are going to go with a lift. I would prefer to be hung in a bucket. I've been up about maybe 60 feet on a boom lift and it was a bit shaky, so I can imagine how it will be at that height. , hehe. I'm guessin' its about 90 feet to the very top white area that needs to be painted right below the steeple.

I have no fear of heights whatsoever, so it should be fun if we get it 8)
...and believe me, I will make it worth my while.

cool job.......u should make some money on that!

i'm not afraid of heights either..............i test stacks for a local power company and one of the stacks we go up is 620 feet tall.........the level we test at is 540 feet.

all the other stacks are under 300 feet that we go to........there are a few outside stacks that we have to climb a ladder and those are around 150 feet to where we test..........but the rest are inside and have elevators.....but u still have to be able to stand hanging a lil out the windows while holding probs that go into the stack out of the windows during the test and not mind looking down thru the gratting and the very shaky elevator ride up there lol

lol it's so funny when people ask me what i'm doing this summer and i tell them................they start asking all kinds of questions

they just built another stack right next to it that's 480 feet i think....the 600 foot one was the tallest structure in the state till they started building the new bridge in charleston
