...the Power Adder forum looks pretty dead so...
Are you running a blower brace of any kind with your YSi??? Any belt throwing / slippage problems???

I am not running any braces or anything. I have never thrown a belt with the s-trim, ys, or ysi as of yet. Your bracket setup looks a million times nicer then mine too, so I don't think you have to worry. I've watched the boost on the dyno too and it stays up there without any slipping with the 3"/8" combo and a nice tight belt. I can't wait to see what kind of numbers you see with yours and how much boost you are going to make :)

I can't understand why my brackets are different than yours. Maybe mine are the Mondo brackets or something??? So you think I should just try running it without a brace and see how it goes???
Speaking of boost, how much do you see??? Where do you shift, and what trap rpm do you see???
Man, I'm starting all over... :) Just call me noob.

Jeff, I think you might have the Renegade brackets. I think Vortech makes both a pass side & drivers side Renegade kit.

Jeff,
I would give it a try without a brace first and see how it does. I was just looking at your setup again and the brackets look nice and beefy plus you have those spacers up top that should help it to not flex too. With the older style brackets I've found that as long as you have a smog pump or smog pump eliminator in place, then brackets really don't flex at all. Right now I see around 18-20 pounds of boost. With the current cam/converter I shift around 6200 and trap around 6800,

OK.
Man, I can't wait to see what this thing is gonna do. :) I don't know when it'll make it's first track appearance, but hopefully it will be this year.
Why would I get the Renegade brackets and you not??? You also have the Renegade YSi setup, right???

Eric is still running the old style YS kit with a YSi head unit. Correct me if I'm wrong Eric. So that is why his stuff is different.

jeff, some time recently vortech changed the bracket packages( probably the same time they raised the price). you have the new offering . i have the same setup at eric does and have no problems with belts or slip.

just so you guys know.. you can get away with out the brace... even when boost gets to 26-27... any more than that the belt has to be so tight the new brackets will flex and let the belt fly off...i know.... the ysi will make 34psi. i make 22 on the trans brake. if you have the money, buy the brace it does take a lot of stress off the crank.... dont get the vortech one. get the one i run it has a much better bearing set up.... bob kurgan makes them....
