View Full Version : Now my trans problems

Ok, I know (well really hope its something stupid). Ive been fighting with the shifter for a few nights now, and the problem aint there. Its a full man rev v/b. If I take the the trans linkage and move it while the car is running. It has rev, neutral, 1st, nothing no 2nd, but it has 3rd. Now if I go from 3rd, to 2nd it works, then put it into 1st stop the car and it has 1st, but will not go into 2nd when I go threw the gears from 1st-3rd but it has em when I go 3rd-1st. Anyone???:confused:

Never really messed with aftermarket c4 vb's - but is sounds like first you should move the detent manualy from under the car to make sure it is hitting the detent correctly.

Then i would call the VB maker and ask them about it.

It is possible that you fried the intermediate band, c4's will have no 2nd position if the band is fried :(

Yea we were doing this from under the car. The car has 1st and 3rd going foward and has 3rd then 2nd then 1st when going back up.

Okay, you start in 3rd gear selector on the shifter and you have 1st, then one selection towards you there is no 2nd, and then the last selector (1st gear) you have 3rd

But when you downshift back to the the middle you have 2nd

Maybe the vb isn't reverse manual?
Try and see if you start in 1st selector and upshift away from you if it works okay? WOrth a try if you havn't done it yet.

No it is its been in the car for 2 years and had the trans redone last year and had about 10 passes and maybe 600 miles on it. I really think this car is going on ebay tonight:?

well that sucks, I would say your problem is VB related, see if a good cleaning won't solve the problem?

Yea thats what I was thinking that theres maybe a peice of dirt in there thats not allowing it to go in forward but its not blocking for the rev stroke. Man I hate this #$^@* @*&@#*&@ $*&!#% ($*&@#%)*&* car

Well I dont know how I fixed it or what fixed it but after having the vb out of the car 15 times on friday and sat, I adjusted the bands, soaked the vb and blew the hell out of the trans. I said it this dont do its this time is coming out and bang 1-2-3.....3-2-1. Thank god !!!!
