Are flexplates and flywheels the same thing???
What's a blockplate for???
How do I know if the bell I get is for a case fill tranny?

Flexplates - Auto use, has wieght for balance of engine (351/302 28oz, 5.0HO 50oz) This is what the TC bolts to and has starter ring. Come in various sizes depending on what bellhousing you have (C4 has 157 and 164 tooth). They are designed to "flex" also, not really, but they do warp is the TC balloons.
Flywheel - heavy pressure plate that clutch slip against, for use with manual trans. Come in various metals and thicknesses and sizes depending on what clutch you want to run.
Blockplate - goes between the trans and the engine block...I always picture it as a large "washer." this allows you to bolt the two surfaces together evenly. It prevents debris from entering the flywheel/flex area as well. They can be varried in thickness to adjust converter runout - other than this bullshit explination I can't really tell you :)
Bells don't have case or pan fill (C4 I assume) variation....only the case has a fill spot or not, then the pan need one. The differance is noticable in seconds. As for the bell choice - there are like 100 different bellhousings made for the C4 since it was started to be used....but racers are really only concerned about 157 or 164 tooth bell. They come in many shapes and sizes, but for the most part the 70+ bells are the ones you want to use.
