Hey guys, I finaly got the car together again after rebuilding the AOD. So i was testing out the tranny brake and v/b...I new this was gonna take some getting used to. LOL I also was testing out the water injection for the 1st time.
I went out to Speedworld last night, to try out some new mods to the car. Jeremy from Duffees was nice enough to come out and give a hand. He gets a ton of credit for this car/combo...
The weather was great, nice and cool. I made a total of 6 passes. Its a whole new ballgame getting used to the tranny brake, and manual v/b...I started out very conservitive on the tunes, and got more aggressive towards the end..
All runs made on PUMP GAS
1st run- 10psi- I left with about 3-5 psi, part throttle, and spun the tires, then short shifted 1st to 3rd Sweet!....LOL. went 12.60 @ 75....aborted.
2nd run- 10psi and 10*- tried leaving at 0 boost/vacuum, part throttle. Still spun the tires,(1.802 60ft) still short shifted 1st and 2nd, and with 10* total timing and water, it ran 11.30 @ 122. This told me 2 things. 1, it had WAY to much water. And since i didnt have any way to adjust it (yet), i had to up the boost and timing.
3rd run- 13psi and 15*- Left with about 4psi, part throttle, and spun again (1.86 60ft), short shifted again, and ran a 11.15 @ 123...LOL Still to much water.. Lets try some more timing..
4th run- 13psi and 22* - Left with around 4psi, part throttle, and spun again,(1.71 60ft) short shifted AGAIN (Damn this stock shifter!...LOL) and ran a 11.0 @ 125.. Still to much water. More boost is needed....Jeremy told me not to leave at part throttle. I told him i am a wimp. LOL So its WOT from now on...
5th run- 16psi and 22* - I decided to leave with 10psi, and WOT. I lowered the tire pressure to 11, let her rip. Spun again (1.61 60ft) and felt a bit stronger once she hooked. Didnt go so straight, but i drove through it, and went 10.48 @ 130.... AHHH the turbo was now in its happy zone. Still the water needs to be adjusted, but i had no control at the track, so the tune is still off... 1 more pass is needed to back up my last pass...
6th run- 16psi and 22* Left with 7psi and WOT again. Spun again, but a bit better (1.58 60ft) and felt pretty damn good, again got out of the groove, swayed a bit on the big end, and went 10.41 @ 131...
This car has went 10.67 @ 129 on 10psi and pump gas. So the tune is far from optimal with the water. I just finally got it working, and just went out to test it. The intake temps look good, so its just a matter of fine tuning it...
This is a new best for this car, and with a dismal 1.58 60ft. So i am confident this car will go 9.99 with just some tuning and practice. I need to learn how to shift again...>LOL I thought AOD's were easy to drive?
