I was checking out the AOD I picked up yesterday......(thanks again Mike) and it has a Blue converter in it with the numbers AOD-HS-BB on one spot and 12171 in another spot....these parts numbers are on the face on the converter that would be closest to the flexplate........Anyone know who this converter might be made by........thanks adam

If it is the AOD out of Mike18421's grey GT, he bought that car from a friend of mine and it was supposedly just a replacement converter, no higher stall or anything...I can double check with him if you want me to?

FWIW, My old B&M converter that I had in my Vert had the B&M part # stamped right into it...42170 or something like that

pull it off and snap a pic of the pump side. Also, after you yank it off, yank the input shaft out as well, stick it down inside the converter and see if you can spin anything without spinning the WHOLE converter...this would say it is NONLOCK.

COnverter color means not much these days. But for some general ID: Rusted non painted means OEM, SIlver means painted at a shop that cleaned it, Black is usually TCI, Purple is PI, green is Edge, red is Hughs, darkish blue is lentech, and blue/black could be B&M.

After you stick the input shaft down into the converter, if the GUTS turn while you hold the converte with your feet - then it is non lock converter, aftermarket.

If you can't turn the input.....I take that back, there is some welding on the inner turbine fins from the OUTside it appears....My vote is aftermarket, but no clue what.
