Hey Guys:

I am new to the site, it was recommended to me by a few of my friends.

Here is the situation I have, so I hope you can help me.

I have a 1995 GT with just under 50K original miles. I had the AODE in it built to support a decent amount of power but nothing for a 10 second car etc. The transmission has the following:

- Hughes Performance Heavy Duty 2400 Stall Torque Converter
- Performance Automatic Hardened Input Shaft
- Raybestos Clutches
- Ford Racing Wide Ratio Gear Set
- B&M 3 QT Deeper Pan
- Level 10 High Flow Pump
- 14 Quarts of Redline Automatic Trans Fluid
- Karl Baumann Shift Kit
- Long 18,000 GVW Self Regulating Transcooler

Now the problem I have is now that the transmission has the FRPP Wide Ratio Gear Set (Which makes it a 4R70W) the PCM tries to turn the converter clutch on 2 or 3 times and then after that it just gives up.

Does this sound like something that can be fixed with tuning like SCT? My car is SCT tuned by a shop called Radical Racing.

What do you guys think?

First off, welcome to the site. :D

By turning the converter clutch "ON", do you mean when it tries to "LOCKUP"?
Is this a "NEW" problem?
Or one that's been gradually getting worse?

This should really be in the "Click Click Trannies" forum...maybe someone can move it?

Correct, it tries to lock up - makes a few attempts and then once it cannot it just simply stops trying.

It has been doing this since the Trans was put together. Karl Baumann from Baumann Engineering told me that it might happen when I started gettin everything together before I rebuilt it.

Of course he says the only way to fix it is with his Baummanator TCS handheld controller which is like a AFM PMS but for Transmissions.

I was wondering if anyone had heard of this before and if they new if it was fixable through regular dyno tuning?

I'd try to contact SCT, since they "should" know if that's something they can tune or not...If they can't, I'd say as long as Baumann guarantees this "Baumannator" "fixes" the problem, that's the only other solution....
