I realize that gas mileage would suffer going from a lockup converter to a nonlockup, however, what I didn't know was that it was going to go down to half what it used to. Sound normal?
What I've gained from the posts so far is that the nonlockup builds more heat and is always slipping but wasn't sure about the gas mileage mentioned above.
Thanks,
Tim

lol...welcome to the "Did I screw up?" stage of converter swaps...
You can't/won't have it all Tim...sorry.
It definitely isn't strange to lose some mileage, but 1/2 may be a little extreme...
FWIW, I went from 21mpg's in my old Vert, with the stock lockup, to 12-15 with the non lockup...and that was with a mild stall (2400)...
Was your old setup using a "STOCK STALL"?
If you went from a stock converter, to a 3800 non lockup, get used to the added performance, AND (unfortunately) the shitty mileage...

Old setup was not using stock stall. Was using 3200 PI lockup.
I don't expect it all... LOL. I'm just wondering if what I'm experiencing is considered "normal" or not is all.
