I desided to take my car out last night so I was driving down the road I got about 10 miles from my house and i was sitting at a light. i look at my oil press. gauge (autometer) and its a 5psi at idle so i got scared i pulled over ot the side of the road and checked for leaks nothing so I got back in the car not knowing what to do i drove the car to my girlfriends house 3/4 of a mile away it was pulling 20psi at 2000rpms. when I got there I checked again for leaks but nothing was leaking so I checked the oil again it was at normal level. any ideas what wrong with the car I was going to hook another oil press. gauge up just to see if maybe just a broken gauge but I doubt it. I've had no luck with this car so far and this just adds to my problems.

Thanks
Mike

how old is the gauge? The sending unit could have gone bad.

or is it a mechanical gauge

its a machanical gauge and its not that old, the car has a novi 2ooo blower. I was going to go buy another oil press. gauge to test it but i doubt thats the problem

You probably split the block..

I just went outside and started the car for the first time since the other night to check for leaks in the day time and now the car is pulling 42psi@idle. a split block is what I was scared of since my motor only has 1300miles on it

Yea...that would definitely suck. I know that scared feeling too..lol. It was 42 cold? Let it heat up and then see what it is. How does the oil look on the dipstick?

I just took it for a ride at 180 degrees 10psi at idle its safe to say my block is shot

yeah sounds like you prolly killed the blocked, its prolly a hair line crack but it will completely go if you got into at all, prolly did it when you were on the dyno with those lean A/F ratios

I think I may just part the car out I've lost interest in it now. I think time to go back to the good old LS1's where I belong
