Ive been thinking of changing gears. I really want 4.10s becuase I know most AOD guys run 4.10's with thier setup and run extremely good. But the problem is, that I am going to be running nitrous. I know 3.73's would work pretty good with nitrous, but something higher than 3.73's would be best for motor passes. With stock gears on my 92 LX AOD and with 150 shot of nitrous I have ran a best of 12.35 @ 111 MPH, and on motor I have ran a best of 14.00 @ 98 MPH. I know with 4.10s my motor times would drop pretty good, but I think I might run out of gear if I spray with 4.10's (just going through 3 gears). So I was thinking maybe 3.90's. Do you guys think these gears would work good on both motor and nitrous passes? Thanks for your help.

are you running a stock motor? that would be a big help to know what mods you have.

with 26"tires and 4.10's i was trapping 5400rpms on my 12.9-12.9 passes @ 102 mph. now i have 28" tires havent made any passes on them yet should slow down about 2 tenths i think but i can spray now if i want to.

my cars peak power is @4800rpms "stock H/C/I" 225hp and 287tq

well as far as stock motor...kinda. All I have is the E cam, and 1.7 RR's. Intake and heads are stock. I also have a 65mm TB, BBK CAI, Electric Fan, BBK X-pipe, and flowmasters. I ran the 12.35 on 26 inch ET Street. Maybe if I do end up going with 4.10's 28's and nitrous should work out fine.

I should have payed attention to what I was trapping in at the end. I should go make another run and see what RPM's I come out in.

What always worked the best for me was 1400 launch (let the convertor flash and it dont jack the susp up) 1.66 60s 100% stock susp. Good luck in the quest for the 11s your right there!!!

I run 28in tall tires with 3.73s in an AOD (3700stall nonlockup converter) car. Right now im going thru the traps at 5900rpm in third and my car traps 118mph. Im switching back down to 26in tall tires and my car "should" be going thru the traps at 6300-6400rpm now.

When my car was going 112mph in the 1/4 I was running 26in tall tires with 3.73s and my car was at 6000rpm thru the traps. Hope this helps.

The 4.10s will help out on motor passes but chances are you will run out of gear on the bottle. It really depends on what you want to do with the car. I would keep the 3.73s in it.

You have to match the gears to the converter and tire size. What are you running and what are your future plans? Most blower guys with 3200+ stall converters run 3.27's or 3.55's.
