testing BTM's

I know BTM's are junk but its what I have to work with right now. I've heard there is a way to test them what exactly do I have to do to test it just to make sure its working correctly?

You need to get an air source to simulate boost and attach it to the vac lines. What most due is use a leakdown gauge and attach it to a vac line and simulate the amount of boost they want to run and then dial in the timing on the btm knob.
