it was if you plan more mods.. heads, cam and intake next? a high stall converter would help alot too..

I probably wouldnt have spent the $$ on stainless mufflers..

worth it yes. can probably get even better with more practice. i worked my way down to 13.90's. then converter and fresh tranny and 13.30's, and then diet and dyno tuning of timing and fuel, and bam 12.80's. now i just need a 100shot and some 11.90's timeslips

damn......picking up 7 mph is MAJOR..nice work.

your et isnt showing it because the 60' time is way off.....sticky tires and your DEEP in the 13's.

i went down the track about 7 times that day, i tried 2 different ways of launching, one was flashing the converter, the other was stalling at about 1500-1700 (about as high as i could get it with out spinining) the flash times were good but the higher i could get the stall the better.. i even waited at the tree until i was ready to go since R/T has no effect on everything else unless bracket racing?

I was doing the 1-2-1 shuffle on all of the runs except one (that one run i ran an embarising time of 14.7 (premature 2-3 shift))

i dont know what much more i could have done to improve my times that day except mess with tire pressure more, and take out spare tire back seat shit like that...

i cant believe you could stall up the stock converter to 1700rpms. i couldnt ever get mine over about 1300

I think that you are on the roll and just keep on going with what you got had a converter, heads, cam, and intake

I managed to squeak out a 2.22 60' time in my 'bird with 3.08 gears, 225/60r15 cooper cobra's and a stock converter. I had it stalling at about 1800 off the line. I don't know if the 'stangs have tighter converters or not...maybe mine is just whooped? lol.

I would say your mods were definitely worth it though. I agree, tires and a little converter would really help ya out. Those mods will really help in the future, if you ever do heads/cam/etc.

Like Rich said, 7 mph is a very nice gain for the $$ spent.

Next on the list should be sticky tires, converter and a street/strip valve body (to get rid of the 1-2-1 shuffle).

97k miles...
Stock longblock , Stock AOD (26k on Stock rebuild)
1 5/8" shorties , 2.5" O/R H , 2.5" catback..

I was doing 1 , D , 1 shuffle last time @ track , didnt try leaving in drive... I may next time and see if it changes... I tried shifting last year and it didnt ET diff. than leaving in DRIVE... 29# in M/T , they spun a little , didnt lower tire pressure... Was also leaving line @ idle , never tried stalling... I think I may get a 13.7x out of car w/ STOCK AOD... :)
